Busy weedend

Helped friend paint on Sat. It didn't start out too well, but it's getting there... the edges aren't that nice and i rolled over the 2nd layer before all the edges were dried.... blehhh.
Had more white hair and blue scalp in the end, but it helped me burned off some calories.

Took several hrs of nap on Sun. Donno y. It was 4pm and I still wanted to sleep more.
Helped John put on new blinds. They don't exactly fit... donno if we'd need to redo them.
Did some grocery shopping ("City Fresh" and "Kayan"). We got so many stuffs. :D.
- 6 packs of ovaltine drinks
- chicken
- vietnamese beef ball,
- lactose free milk (i'm very surprised that they have it),
- banana
- pastries: garlic bread, whole wheat bread, bread with chestnut, bread topped with sweet tuna fish paste.
- mini almond biscuits (i'm so addicted to them now).
I love impulse buying!!

Cooked brown rice, beef balls w/ bak choy, and stir fried beef with onion and carrots and the left over bak choy... too bad i burnt the carrot and onion...

Didn't do any more pic picking or thank you card.... i'm so behind on those stuffs.
We're having more ppl in our skating class, 2 of which were ex figure skaters. They could do single axel... even my skating classmate's son could do it now, we started those exercise the same time last yr....

So excited. "Heroes" and "Prison Break" are back!! Especially "Heroes", can't wait to see it.

Gloomy Long Weekend

Things accomplished
- Went to Taiwanese Festival (my old dragonboating team members still remember me)
- Did Driving Range
- Bought and put bookcase together

- Went to La Cuisson in Union Square
Tuna Sandwich

Mendelay Coffee & Vienna Coffee

Pana Cotta

- Got most of the wedding day pics back

Bad News
The pics that were taken in Minoru after the ceremony were GONE!!! The photographer forgot to give us some of the photos and thought that he had given us everthing and deleted all our photos. He'd try to recover the pics but I doubt he'd have any success.

Networking

Hehee :D Finally fixed the router config.
Stupid me, turned on the MAC filter but didn't put in the client's IP address.... haha filtered out my own IP. Well, at least I know that the MAC filter works.
Now I'm able to go online in my laptop.
In the end, it's not that hard to config a router...

Another lazy weekend

Finally have internet and TV at home.
Didn't do much clean up. Slept most of the time during the whole weekend.

Made a beef stew on Sat morning, started eating it on Sat nite and finished by Sun noon.
It's not that good, I don't quite like the taste of the seasoning.
John seems to like it tho. I'm going to research for a better recipe.

During the week, went to a store in Fraser and got a $6x Cusinart saucepan for $3x only. Good deal!
Made oatmeal, pasta, and beans with it already.

Wanted to go to IKEA for a work table but it's closed due to strike.

Headache Epic
Headache on Sat cuz stayed up too late fri nite trying to set up the wireless router, slept at almost 1am.
Got it connected but still couldn't go on to the internet.
I suspect that it has to do with the limitation of the high speed lite subscription, one IP only.

Headache finally went away on Sun evening, but started again on Mon morning cuz woke up one hour earlier than usual. It went away before noon after I took an advil.

More about the trip

On the stairs up to Sacre Couer, we got "trapped" by 2 Africans, two imposing medium built guys.
We got cornered totally and couldn't move away. They asked us to get our fingers out and then started braiding a bracelet on it. They chatted with us and said nice things and blah blah blah. In the end, they asked us for 10 euros for the 2 bracelets (made with red/yellow/green threads). John ran out of money on that day and ended up giving them 10 CAD instead. He looked disappointed but said it's ok. We should have just given them back the bracelets (which would be really hard cuz it's tied with a dead knot) and walked away... or should not have took our fingers out in the first place.

Honeymoon in Paris

Flight
The airplane food was great, donno y ppl r complaining.
There was no food on the flight to/back Montreal, only on the Paris one that we got lots.
On the flight back from Paris, I had lamb for dinner and then pizza pocket later, and then Japanese rice crackers for snack.
On the flight to Paris, I had beef Lasagna. It was great altho I wouldn't mind a bit more beef.
There were also free wine offered as well. John got the red wine. I had orange juice the whole time.
Movies we saw on the planes: Next, Meet the Robinsons (great animated movie), Incredibles (still good eventho I've already seen it), Spiderman 3 (skipped some of the endings... too sleepy), and Shooter.

Places we visited during our trip
- Eiffel towel, Arc de Triumph, catacombes, Concorde (Egyptian Oblesik)
- Shopping or window shopping @
Champs-Elysees (also breakfast and pastries takeout @ l'aduree),
Germain des Pres,
Lafayette,
Les Halle (we were too early and it's closed and it didn't look that good)
market street: Rue de Claire...?
- Gardens: Bois de Bologne (only near the entrance), Tuileries, Luxembourg, Jardin des Plants, Bomp..., ....
- Churches: Notre Dame, Sacre Couer, St. Eustache
- Museum: Louvre, Rodin, Orsay.
- Modern art: Pompidou Center
- Looked outside and didn't go in: Grand Palais, Petite Palais, the Dome church (where Napolean tomb was in), Pantheon.
- Walked along River Seine

Favorite meal
- meal on last day: Whole avacardo stuffed with crab, steamed fish in a chinese steaming bamboo box, Escargoes (stuffed with green garlic sauce), lait chaud.
My favorite drink is now steamed milk with sugar. They always give u sugar to put in when you order hot milk there (they usually don't understand you if u said "steamed milk" instead of "hot milk").
Their espresso is very strong (according to John), and they always give u a piece of chocolate or a small biscuit on the side.

Most regret
- Stinky metro, stinky passenger tunnel along the river, lost my red cap.
- didn't wait long enuf for the USB to unplug and lost some of the pics on the last day, including my favorite meal... :'(!!!!

"Jet Lag"

Not too many things went wrong with the weddings.
All my friends were very helpful and it did went pretty smoothly.
I went to the makeup place 10 mins early and waited outside the door for 12 mins. I thought she'd be early cuz she reminded me several times to not be late.
The makeup person did a pretty good job, she used real flowers on my hair. The fake lashes looked pretty dramatic but I think it's necessary for photos.

We did LOTS and LOTS of pictures.
First it's the ceremony group photos, then we did a couple around Minoru, then we went to UBC, then we went to Jericho Beach.
At UBC, we took quite a few pics just along the street (Main Mall), with just the buildings, the trekker's cafe (which I had no idea y he chose that one), and the trees. We did the street pics first because the photographer said it's too bright and won't be as pretty. Then we went to Rose Garden and only took a few shots there because of time constraint.

Being that it's summer and all, the sun never came down fast enuf for day pics. His advice of doing the rose garden later or the beach later totally didn't matter.

After all the pics taking, we went to the make up place for touch up, only 30mins or so. I met my friend's sister there. She had the wedding on the same day and she just came for her touch up too.

At the banquet, we did more group photos. Almost everyone wanted to take photos with us. Our cheeks were very tired and sore from all the smiling throughout the day.

During the banquet, we had 2 games and a sideshow. Everyone seemed to have a good time. I screwed up in the game.... I thought John's uncle's hand is John's hand.... John didn't mind tho said it's funny and everybody laughed and had a good time.

We were able to leave the restaurant at about 11.. or was it 10....
We were dead tired. Somehow we still managed to take a shower before going to sleep.

The very next day we still woke up early as usual, 6 or 7ish.... and felt that we had just flew in from some remote area. It's not like the usual lack of sleep feeling. We were in a daze and practically having jet lag.

Extremely lazy this weekend

Mostly just watched TV on DVD and watched people move. My once tidy home is back to being a mess.
Watched "Barnyard" and some TV series. "Barnyard" is cute. I'm only a few chapters away from finishing the TV series.
Tried out the gym. I like the mirror but not the Elliptical, it's too big for me. It felt very awkward.

My head is hurting from waking up at 5:00am so that I can be at the 6:30am conference... which we called in but were only able to get the answering machine.

I totally regretted getting the "Reduced-fat turkey bacon sandwich". I thought it's turkey slices with bacon... but there is no turkey just the bacon.... didn't know there is such thing as turkey bacon until now.

Started looking into the tour guide book. I can't read into it for more than half an hr...

Attended John's friend's sis's pre-wedding banquet. Lots of ppl. Nice big house. Lots of spicy food that taste the same.

Did some cleanup. Cleaned the bathrooms' countertops. Vacuumed the hallway bathroom, hallway, kitchen, living room, the 2nd bedroom, and the patio rug. Forgot about the master bedroom's bathroom. The master bedroom is full of john's stuff so I left that out for now.

Lazy weekend

Very lazy this weekend, didn't do much at all, except finished printing the vegetarian menu. It's looking rather good, the petals are coincidentally at the right positions after the paper is cut in half and folded.

Talked to photographer. Had to update the schedule again.
He's now coming to my parents' place at 8:45am to do some shots of the dress. Then, we're heading to Minoru at 9:00am. Then, we'll take some shots outside Minoru, of me getting off the car.
The ceremony starts at 10am and ends at 11pm.
Then, it's group shots and individual pictures.
(note: need to find someone to yell out ).
Then we're leaving for UBC after a lunch break (at my parents' place) and meeting at UBC at 2:30pm. Since I wanted some beach shots (and since the photographer is familiar with that place, we're going there.... altho none of us r sure that there are flowers in rose gardens.... He also said that too much traveling around is not a good idea. We should just stick with taking pics at one place.
And, we're taking beach shots after the sun had gone down a bit. Photographer said we won't see anything if the sun is too bright.
Then we're leaving UBC at 4:30pm, and getting to the makeup place for touch up like what?.... 5:00pm?? And, the reception starts at 6:00pm?? Is that enuf time? !!!!! absolutely not...
Also, if it rains, we'll just have to take the pics indoor, like inside the chapel... but wait a min.... probably can't even do that since we only booked it for till 11:00am.... He said that we could go to the city hall and took pics there. There is a place with columns and it looks pretty nice..... but it's just one place...

Skipped the company picnic and went to get a hair cut instead, because the weather didn't look very promising and of course it's all good during my hair cut (and my ride changed his decision and went to the bbq...)
I got it cut for another 2 inches. Not a bad cut for just $14. It's the right length now but the style of the hair cut doesn't quite go along with the new length. My hair is now sticking out at places where I don't want.
My nails r getting longer and the artificial nails r looking like they're gonna fall off.
Watched "1408". It's so twisted. Very good film. Now, I want to buy the short story collections and bring it to me on the trip.
Internet at my new place was on and off and now it looks like it's not coming back at all... So I just played the games that I downloaded before, and I watched 5 or 6 episodes of "I have a date with vampire"... till almost midnite... and didn't do a thing about cleaning up my place or wedding stuffs.

Busy busy

Besides the bridal shower, also helped John moved some of his stuffs over.
And, also very busy playing with my new laptop.
Yes! I finally got it! I absolutely love it.
The ony thing that I wasn't so happy with it is that it's hotter than I expected it would be.
Good for sliming thighs tho, if u like to use ur laptop on ur lap.
And, also got 2 plants, one indoor and one outdoor. The outdoor one is from Lansdown. The indoor one is from Ikea. The ikea one, including the pot, is only $25... whereas the one from lansdown is 48 in total, but it's bigger and the pot is nicer... by a bit.

The indoor one

It's actually not straight, but that makes it interesting

The outdoor one

Shower

:D Had a great bridal shower on Sat. Some of my friends and john's family and relatives showed up. I got lots of gifts :D and we had great foods, thx to john's mom and my mom for getting them.
- cold cut platter with cheese
- veggie platter with mustard and range dip
- really huge cake with me and john's name on it
- baked radish cake dim sum
We had lots of leftover.
They went up to my place to use the washrooms and they liked my paint job at my new place.
One of them said my bedrooms are too white... I'll have to paint it someday....a very distant someday.

Dessert for Bugs

Went to a trail near the Richmond Nature Park. It started out great. It was very beautiful near the entrance, lots of those unknown purple flowers. Then it wasn't so great. In fact, a bit scary.
At first, we saw poops on the ground, every so often... then later not even poops... and the roads were getting narrower and narrower and for some we practically "swam across" weeds. Bugs flying towards us, bugs flying by us...yuck.
I just counted. I had 4 bites on my back, 1 near my neck, 3 on the back of my left upper arms, and 1 on my right wrist.
That was just the yucky part, the scary part was that there were no posts throughout the trail and the trail seems to go on forever and ever.... Fortunately, it really is just a trail.... albeit a very poor maintained one. After almost an hr, we finally got back to where we started.

Fake things from China

Just heard from my friend in Hong Kong, their latest hottest invention is fake BBQ bun.
Pork price has been on the rise. So, they use old cardboards (those that r sitting in the garbage bin*) and mix it with real pork meat. It has 50% real and 50% fake "meat". It's heard that ppl can't tell the fake one from the real one.
They also have fake mineral water, which is actually tap water (with added "minerals") .... their tap water... probably just as dirty as false creek water if not dirtier.

*there is no recycle bin in China

unproductive weekend

.... got headache on sat afternoon.... couldn't do as much wedding stuffs as I'd like. Managed to do other stuffs tho, like get gifts for ppl (about 2 gifts away from completion), and got patio rug. I'm still not sure about it, it seems a bit too small. My mom says smaller is better, less chance of it getting rained on. I'm thinking brown would actually look better with the black patio set, but donno ..cuz it'd blend less with the concrete. And, right now, because it's small, you don't even see it from the hallway. We did enjoy it a lot. We had drink there while watching ppl and cars on the street.

Went to John's auntie place for June/July's bday. I got so many gifts :D
- sporty bag
- lil cosmetic bag with scented soaps inside
- home made coconut hand/body cream
- decorative candles
Also, I got to play with the cat, Cleo. She seemed to like me (purred when I scratched her neck), but not so much when I tried to pick her up...almost nicked my top.

Sis was saying that my music was too noisy.... asked me to move back to my new place...I do need it for doing mind numbing paper work... maybe i should get a headphone.

** Update **
Went back to the store to check on the rugs... the bigger size rug does not have the design that i like and the brown color one really doesn't look that good...
I'll be keeping the one I bought.

I think it looks good on the corner.
Need to get a nicer lamp...

Bunnies at Minoru Chapel

These are the shots I took at Minoru Chapel while waiting for the minister for our meeting. Most of the bunnies are afraid of strangers but not so much for the babies.

There are lots of them.

Here are the babies.
Coming closer and closer...

We're eating.

Here are the damages that they've (the adults) done
