A year went by just like that
It's an extremely extremely extremely busy year for me.
Juggled in between new job, wedding preparation, and new home preparation all at the same time.
Pretty scary.
Although it's been reported that 90% of the ppl don't get their resolution accomplished, I'm gonna list mine anyway. Actually this is the first year that I have one.
My new year resolutions:
- be more organized
- maintain weight
- double loop... or a quarter of a rotation closer to one...
Shopping
It's been non-stop shopping since x'mas. Gifts for ppl, then gifts for myself... mostly clothes.
- 3 jeans (all 29.95), 3 jackets (1 for work, 2 for running/skating), 2 nice t-shirts, 1 casual top, 2 bras (mostly paid with gift cert), 2 cardigans, 1 casual cotton jacket, and 1 semi-formal jacket.
- non-clothing item: 1 pair of running shoes, handbag, 2 lotions (buy 1 and get the other one half price), nail kit, and snacks and starbucks coffee.
I actually bought the handbag just before the boxing week and they agreed to give me the price adjustment... the SECOND time I went in and asked them. So Happy :D!
Also, I was able to return the running shoes. The left shoe is way tighter than the right one.
I'm keeping the other shoes that I bought in another store for $30 less.

White Xmas
On Xmas eve, had dinner at my folk's place. Showed my in-laws my fishes.
We had mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, smoked salmon, cold shrimps, salad, and of course, turkey. Then we had layered cappucino cake for dessert. We had quite a nice time. It's been a long time since my parents have hosted anything.
On Xmas nite, had dinner at John's auntie's place. They had much more snow than we had. It's so cold but it's worth going there. Played with the cat for quite a while. She's the friendliest cat I've ever met. Had really good food. His aunt tried some new recipes with brussels sprouts and gravy for the turkey. All very nice. Her salad was really good too. It had bacon bits in it.
Xmas gifts I/we got:-
- Starbucks gift card from John's mom
- IKEA gift card from John's mom
- Starbucks cup and fuzzy socks from John's mom
- Paperwhite incense and a deer ornament from Pottery barn. Thanks to her auntie, our place smells nice now. Funny we were just looking at that when we were shopping on Granville.
- "Cloud 9" bathrobe from John.
- Style @ home magazine and one-yr subscription from John's sis.... too bad my place is still messy... usually.... not really worth the effort to design this and that anymore....
- Very fur-like throw from John's sis. I swear it's because of that throw that I was able to recover from my colds so quickly.
- Big metal-like handcrafted pottery portrait from sis
- "Red pocket" from my mom
- Jumbo size Dad's cookies from my uncle.
- Nice whole hazelnut chocolates from my friend.
Very good return this year :D. I'm so beloved :).

Xmas is here
Had dinner with family on Sat. We went to Fisherman Terrace as usual. They gave us the baked tapioca pudding with lotus paste for free. But, they browned the top a bit too much. It's totally burnt for a few places and the waiter acted like he didn't see it and just cut into it and dug all the charcoal right into the pudding. He didn't stop until I suggested that he should just take out the black pieces first. He also did a lousy job separating the meat from the bones for the steamed fish. They're not usually like that bad. Probably overworked for Xmas.
On Sun, went to church then to Aberdeen Center. Waited for 15mins for Papa Beard's to open and another 10mins before I got my cream puffs. They still have the "sold out" sign for the éclair. I actually went there for the éclair but thought that I might as well get the cream puffs too since I was there already. The cashier said they usually do it every morning but they didn't do it that morning... I doubt it. I think they'd only done it once.
Then, went to downtown to pick up some books and shopped around Granville. There r so many neat stores and cool galleries, Kurbatoff gallery especially.
We had a decent big breakfast in a place which was extremely crowded when we went in but once we sat down half the ppl were gone. It's like we scared them off.
They have real oil paintings inside the restaurant.

John's hash with cheddar cheese, ham, poached eggs and mushrooms. (the eggs were hiding underneath the cheese)
My whipped cream finally arrived.
After breakfast we went to the "Dear" shop across the street. They have lots of cute stuffs.
Then we went to William Sonoma and a few furniture stores (EQ3, Industrial Revolution), Hardware Restoration, Pottery Barn, and Boboli (too nice for us...), and a few art galleries.

Then afterwards I went to Richmond Center and shopped for almost 3 hrs and then cleaned my fish tank for about 2 hrs..... a very exhausting day. So after 3 cream puffs in a row (240 calories each) and a big breakfast... I still managed to loose one pound....

Another x'masy weekend
All shops have extended hrs for the holiday season, even SuperStore have them.
Both weekends, I spent my day shopping walking around. It's so much fun.
I got new jacket from Fairweather, new workout pants and shirt from Zellars, jean from Siren, slippers from JYSK. All were great deals. A lot of stores have their jeans priced at $29.xx!! Even Old Navy couldn't compare.... they had their jeans starting from $30.
Bought kayan coconut spread from Smart & Save. They use that kind of jam in Singapore. It's pretty good.
Also bought almond cookies.... they're so good. On sale for $3.xx, they were usually 4.xx or even 5.xx.
Finally dropped off some wedding pics to our groomsman/MC. It's so hard to get ahold of him....
Had my first ever review since the Glenayre days. Basically what I wrote down was in the review. Maybe I should have given myself an even higher score so that there were even more room to go down when they calibrated my scores.. haha. Nah. I think it's pretty good given how short a period I've worked here. Also, the % is prorated, e.g. if u came in June, then the % that u're going to get is going to be the original % given to u divided by 2.

Cold Cold Cold
Started getting sick on Fri nite, but by Sat I'm already feeling better after taking Benylin. I still believe in the flu shot. At least I didn't get a flu or fever this year...
Had x'mas party @ Sheraton Wall Center Hotel. The food was quite good and the desserts were lovely. I especially like the salmon, the lemon cheesecake and the pastry with pistachio cream inside. Some ppl find it average. They said the cold cut wasn't good, I skipped that one cuz I don't usually like them anyway.
"Global TV" had theirs as well on the same day. We accidentally stumbled upon it... thinking that's our party... Everyone in that room was very tall. I felt like a hobbit.
I won a door prize, there was a number underneath my seat. This is my first time winning anything. It's a $150 travel gift cert. However, my current vacation balance is negative 1.3 days.. but I guess I can "borrow" vacation again next year. I think I can use 10-1.3 days next year.
Finished buying x'mas gifts yesterday finally... seems to be taking forever.
Also finished packing photos into envelopes and mailed the ones that I have addresses. Now, I just have to hand out the rest in person...
Saw Ratatouille on a weeknite. It's funny but not as good as I thought it'd be.
Made chicken wings on Sat for lunch. It's finger licking good.
I used these to make the sauce: vinegar, soy sauce, tarragon, ketchup, plum sauce, cooking wine, water... basically almost everything in the kitchen.
I'm always either in a hurry to cook or too lazy to flip thru the recipes. I just winged it everytime, almost. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good... But, lately, it's more often good than not good.

White xmas
Snowing the whole weekend. It didn't damper my holiday shopping spirit one bit and I find it exciting to drive in the snow. You just have to go slow and be very careful.
I mostly went shopping in Richmond Center, Lansdown and Aberdeen Center. I wouldn't mind going to Oakridge to shop a bit but because of the snow I didn't want to drive outside of Richmond... and also too lazy to gas up. I bought my x'mas dress in Richmond center and bought gifts for my sis, parents and john's auntie's family.
Went to see the "The Mist" in the theater, redeemed my free ticket from The Scene. It's pretty scary
I finished "Moral Disorder" finally.... didn't get a chance to read "Blind Assassin".
Finally finished sorting out all the photos that I'm going to send to ppl. Now, I just need to buy more x'mas cards and send them in.
First attempt at tea cheesecake muffin (After I found the $2 nutmeg in Daiso. In Save On, it's 6 bux.). It didn't go so well but also it didn't taste too bad. Just have to be careful to not add too much milk next time...
All in all, it's a pretty good weekend.
