Did a bit of cleaning at home.
Watched "Cloverfield". I prefer "Mist" over it cuz it doesn't offer an explanation.
Added "Visual Bookshelf", trying to remember what books I'd read....
Grocery shopping at SuperStore. Their prices r better than Save On.
Got Nike sporty socks at Winners, they're perfect for my running shoes.
Went back to my morning workout routine... now have shin splints, the right one more serious than the left. Apparently, skating + running (+once a week kick boxing aerobic) have too much impact. I'm now doing Ellipse in the morning till my legs feel better...basically no more running.
Saw the high school gang. We had dinner at California Cafe. I got baked/steamed sake sole fillet with mushroom, it's pretty good. Compared to other Chinese cafe, it really has very limited selection, aside from the grill menu. But, it's still better than some other places that don't take reservation on a Fri nite and made u wait 45mins.
Went to see the new condo near my friend's place. I really like the layout of their display suite, especially the low wall for the den/office. I don't quite like the granite that they use. It's selling around 4xx-5xx (and all the way to 8xx for the townhouses) on average, but their size is a bit bigger, they have many units of 1xxx sqft.
Back to my almond cookies addiction. Good news is I'm weaning off my green tea latte addiction.

Lazy weekend
Didn't do any housework this weekend, very lazy. Did some grocery shopping.
After church on Sunday morning, I parked my car at home then walked across to Starbucks. To my surprise, it's packed with no where to sit. So I grabbed my cup and just walked to Lansdown mall. Nothing is opened, so I kept walking. The supermarket near Hon's is opened but their prices aren't that good. Like many Chinese supermarket or should I say all, they don't have cereal. Then I walked to Aberdeen Center and bought some whole wheat bread from "Saint Germain", and some mushroom and mandarin oranges from the farmer's market there. Then I walked to SuperStore. They have everything and good prizes too. Bought two 2.99 PC brand cereal there. Then on the way home, I walked by PG's Pet (previously Super Pet). They were cleaning the dogs' "home", so all the dogs were on the floor in their temporary cages. They were very very loud and annoying. There was this tiny kitten there that's "meowing" all the time. It's so very cute. I've never seen a cat that's so "talkative". It's born in Nov last year and only $399. It's so very tempting to just go buy it.
Finished my "Alias Grace". Turns out that it's based on a true story.
Started reading "The private lives of the impressionists".
The writer's strike is still on, not much TV to watch lately.
Went to "CinCin" for the Dineout event. It's quite disappointing, except for the desserts, the part that you can eat, and maybe the appetizers. There was pistachio shells along with the pistachio's bits, and also we found a piece of unknown plastic strip with the pistachios as well.
Also we got charged for the distilled water.... $7.50. He asked if we wanted "Distilled water" or "Sparkling water". We should have said we just want filtered water...... John had an espresso later for only 2.50, way cheaper than the water.
Appetizers:
Baby spinach, marinated eggplant, roast garlic and lemon vinaigrette - there are only 2 very thin slice of eggplants in it. It's not too bad, but the roasted veggie we had in the Pompidou Center was way better.
Cannelloni bean soup, wood grilled Tofino octopus, salsa verde - Excellent!! Excellent!!!
Entrees:
Carnaroli risotto with fennel, oven dried tomato and oregano coulis - I don't like the kind of cheese that they use. The one that I tasted at C's restaurant was better.
Wood grilled pork saltimbocca, polenta and cauliflower, red bell pepper and marsals jus - I like it very much but John thinks that it's average (he only likes the bacon on it) . I really like the seasoning they put on the pork. It has a lil acidity in it, like vinegar, but not exactly. The polenta was quite unique too. They made it into a square piece, like those Japanese egg sushi.
Desserts:
Tiramisu, mascarpone creme, housemade ladyfingers, hazelnut nougatine sauce - It's very good, except for the non-editable parts....
Rhumbaba with rasberry coulis, pineapple sorbet - The sorbet was very refreshing and not too sweet, and the rasberry sauce was excellent too.
I'll post some pics later...

Another busy weekend
Vacuumed my place for 2.5 hrs on Sat. Did most of the edges and also vacuumed underneath the sofa. At the same time, we've rearranged the sofa. We're now having the chaise facing the TV and using the other section as a chaise. It looks weird (or maybe u can say funky ... haha) but it's so compfy. There are so much more room cuz the chaise is bigger than the other sections. Our sofa almost feels like a bed.
Changed water for all 3 tanks, and changed filters for the medium sized tank and the big tank. Rinsed out the newly bought activated carbon pouch (which took forever...) and used it in the big tank filter. Scrubbed the big tank, gave its plants a haircut, and moved a few bunch of the floating plants into the other tanks. My goldfish tank is looking so pretty now :). There are not too many algae and the plants are flourishing. Finally stabilized after almost 2 whole years....
Also, moved 2 more fishes from the 29g tank to the 10g tank. Took out the coral chips from the 29g tank and used the carbonate powder to maintain the water hardness instead. I suspected that the last bits of the coral chips were making the water cloudy, they were too powdery.
Didn't get to iron any clothes... sat in front of the TV last nite instead. We watched "Bewitched". It's not so bad.
Still reading "Alias Grace".... I'm not getting enuf time to read.

Clean up
Got the IKEA table (Mikael, black-brown) and used the old one for sewing. As usual, we dropped the corner several times while moving it so one of the corners was dented. I used my "left-over" (the whole tin minus several drops I used from last time) wood stain and covered up the exposed wood.
We finally have room to put the printer on.
Started working towards my new year resolution. Cleaned up and vacuumed my closet. I have 20 more clothes to iron before putting them back...
Got a hand vacuum. No longer have to haul out the big vacuum for crumbs and small stuffs.
Went to GCA new year party. I brought my home made cheesecake. Ppl seem to like it. There were 3 babies and 1 kid. We played Wii, the Olympic game. It's a fun workout.
